Assignment #12 - Taylor Calavetinos

(Okay so for my final project I have it planned out here are some pictures I took, this weekend will be better since everyone will be together and working for the Nebraska game. I plan to shoot a lot of thanksgiving break as well since we will all beat the office.) Paula Karamihas, the Director of Football Nutrition, is in charge of all things food. (I will be getting more portraits of her/candids).                                        During practices, Karamihas makes sure all of the players are hydrated so they can perform their best. She also carries around snacks in case of any emergencies. Abir Chaudhry, executive assistant to head coach Mike Locksley, makes sure everything is running smoothly. She is anywhere and everywhere.   Chaudhry drops off Coach Locksley at practice everyday. She is Locksley's right hand (wo)man.  Annie Peppard, Assistant Di...

Workers putting up a fence along the construction zone of the new Cole Field House at the University of Maryland.  Birds perched on the fence bordering the construction zone for the new Cole Field House at the University of Maryland. On a campus busy with life, even nature adapts to construction.  A reflective work vest propped up on a wooden plank. On the warmer days in November, workers strip down from their sweatshirts and vests to something more appropriate for the temperature--like a t-shirt or a long sleeve.   A worker spreading tar over a freshly patched hole on North Campus.  A worker uses a shovel to stir concrete. In the late afternoon, when other workers have left for the day, he works alone.  Workers watch their colleague operate the excavator, to make sure he doesn't damage any underground pipes. They're working on Stadium Drive, right outside Cumberland Hall on North Campus.

Assignment #12 - Angela Roberts

A designated metal recycling bin sits outside of the Institute for Research in Electronics and Applied Physics, the building that houses the garage where the University of Maryland's Hyperloop team works. Nil Patel, an aerospace major who also serves as one of the leads on Hyperloop, stands at the entrance of the team's workspace. They share the building with Terps Racing, so the room's walls are covered in a smattering of car posters. Nil carefully measures a structure atop of last year's pod. After the team travelled with the mechanism to Los Angeles for the summer's competition, members disassembled its casing. Pretty much every surface in the team's workspace is crowded with wires, tools and other devices that nobody ever puts away. Nil squints as he snaps a photo of the pod's structure. The sub-team Nil leads has been charged with designing a skeleton for the mechanism that is lighter — but also capable of withstanding more force. ...

Construction vehicles drive down parking lots on campus to get to the site.  Construction has closed multiple sidewalks around campus causing many students to walk in the grass. Construction workers finish the windows in the new Cole Field House building on campus.  I tested out construction for my final project and I am just having trouble thinking of ways to get more emotion into my pictures.

Assignment #11 - Angela Roberts

All members — except for James — listen carefully as Nil explains what they're charged with doing next. An old piece of machinery sits in the basement of IPST. After walking past it every day for months, Hyperloop members hardly even notice it anymore. A Styrofoam model rocket leans against shelves that line the basement room's walls — a tiny version of the Falcon 9 rocket two team alumni are now working on with SpaceX. A seldom-watered plant sits near a grimy sink. An old coffee can filled with wires, pens and pencils sits at the center of a table strewn with charging cables and calculators. James Bollinger, a junior aerospace major, works on his dynamics homework at the meeting. He contributes to the discussion here and there, calling out snarky comments and teasing his teammates. Nil Patel, lead of one Hyperloop sub-team, listens closely as his teammates discuss how to cut back on the structure's weight —which will be important as the gang striv...
